Smode is a new live graphics rendering engine we’ve been playing with and are taking out for a test drive on a show this week. We’re really excited to see how it can perform. One of the things that drew us to Smode is the fact that it comes in two forms: Smode Station and Smode Studio. Content is made in Smode Studio, and Station is where you play it back. It’s based in the world of OpenGL rather than direct x. It also has some very exciting playback features along with the ability to pull very tasking compositions off the GPU when not in use, so you’re not loading your entire show onto the GPU at the beginning of a show.
